pawnee rock
A historic landmark in Kansas. The criteria for this is simple: In a million miles of flat land, the part that isn't becomes your landmark! Pawnee Rock is basically a giant rock formation. You could stand up on it and see land stretching off into infinity. There's a monument up here (you can see it, just through those trees) which marks the original highest point of the rock. Over the years settlers have chipped away at it for building material, so it's a little lower than it used to be. Notice how the sun and the flares are in the exact spot as two photos ago? It's because I have a special layer in Photoshop which I throw onto any photo that's otherwise too boring. Instant classic!
